September is FASD Awareness Month.
Each September, we celebrate FASD Awareness Month in Texas and around the world.
FASD Awareness Day was first observed September 9, 1999. The 9th day of the 9th month symbolizes the nine months of pregnancy, emphasizing the importance of abstaining from alcohol for the entire pregnancy beginning at conception.
Over time, activists and allies have expanded beyond one day to recognize the entire month of September as FASD Awareness Month. Our goals include public awareness campaigns, support individuals and families impacted by FASD, promote prevention and prenatal care, and advocate for services and supports for those living with FASD.
FASD Awareness Month grows each year, but we need your help to spread the word!
